About the event

For meeting place: Head to village of Dorstone, Hereford. Turn up the narrow Pitt Road which is signposted for Common Bach. Follow the road, taking the right fork after a mile and going straight over the cross roads on to the unsurfaced road toward the mast, where we will park near the road gate just below the mast (SO 289:398). This is a hill walk for heathland birds, the terrain is mostly flat from the mast but hummocky in parts so advisable to wear walking boots. We should see breeding Tree Pipit, Stonechat, Redstart, Willow Warbler and Linnet.

We shall be flexible for the rest of the day depending on time. We will lunch and hopefully see warblers at Snodhill Castle. Afterwards either a short walk along the River Dore at Turnastone or a visit to HWT Crow Wood.

Leader: Mervyn Davies (mobile: 07887 485984)
