Field meeting at Monkhide - Farmland birds and more

Meet in the hamlet of Monkhide HR8 2TU at 09.30.

Our walk today will be along public footpaths, farmland and country lanes with a few stiles. The walk takes in the River Frome, Hereford/ Gloucester Canal and a fishing lake looking for farmland birds and water fowl.

Part of this walk can be very muddy so wellingtons are advised. Please bring a snack for the morning.

Lunch to be eaten in cars with optional afternoon walk to see canal workings, woodland and the River Loden.

Directions: Take the A4103 Hereford/Worcester road. Approximately 8 miles from Hereford, turn right onto the no-through road to the hamlet of Monkhide. Follow this minor road over the first canal bridge and at the second canal bridge park on the right side at the entrance to a green lane leaving access to the lane and field gates.
