Croft Wood & Bircher Common

This walk will take in Croft Wood, a mature woodland owned by the National Trust, which holds common woodland species, plus the adjacent Bircher Common area which has resident Skylark and Meadow Pipit plus an area of gorse scrub which holds finches and Stonechat. Possible early migrants may be present. Walking is on forestry tracks and common grassland with some medium inclines.

Morning walk only. There are tables and also a café if you wish to stay for lunch.

Directions: Meet Croft Castle car park, Yarpole, Leominster, HR6 9PW

From Hereford or Leominster take the A4110 to Mortimers Cross and turn right onto the B4362. The entrance to Croft Castle is approx. 4 miles on the LHS. Proceed up the long drive to the main car park on the right.
